Eugene M. Violette's papers, approximately 8 linear feet plus 18 volumes, include draft versions of his books and articles; professional papers, primarily from his years in Kirksville, Missouri, 1900-1923; and personal and family papers including diaries, scrapbooks and photos from childhood to shortly before his death.

A 32-page photo album with a carved ivory cover which contains 58 photos, most of which are unidentified. The album was originally owned and filled by Emma Funk in the late 1890s, before she was married in 1902.

Documents, correspondence, printed materials, newsletters and studies related to the Highway 63 Transportation Corporation which was incorporated "to fund, promote, plan, design, construct, maintain and operate, the construction of two additional lanes on Highway 63 in Adair County, Macon County...(in) a Cooperative Agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, the County of Adair and the City of Kirksville."

Personal and business correspondence; correspondence with and publications of the National Education Association and other professional and civic organizations with which Greenwood was affiliated; Greenwood's writings, research and speaking notes on various educational topics; items related to the Kansas City School System and to school administration in general; and publications on educational topics.

Scrapbook with funeral notices for Kirksville and surrounding communities from about 1876-1899 and newspaper clippings of obituaries (along with some marriage and birthday notices) from about 1917-1919. Also includes handwritten notes of local deaths. In a folder in the back of the scrapbook, there are a few memorial cards from local funeral homes in from 1943-1945.In some cases, there are handwritten notes about age and cemetery plots.

Scope and Contents Late 19th and early 20th century illustrated letterheads and business forms for Missouri firms, and 1913-1915 display ads clipped from The Kirksville Journal. The bulk of the collection dates from 1868 to 1926. The focus of the collection is on the printed form itself, with emphasis on the illustrations. Letters written by Samuel Clark Zeigler during military service in Missouri and Arkansas with the 7th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry of the Union Army in the Civil War. Also included is a letter to John Zeigler from a friend (or possibly a relative) serving in North Carolina. It also contains added background information and photos from Zeigler family members.
