Scope and Contents

A small collection with a wide variety of materials which include the Kirksville High School and Kirksville Junior High School. There are a few items from the city's elementary schools, which included Greenwood School, Washington School, Willard School and more. Items include curriculum documents, school and commencement programs, sports tickets, and reunion materials.

Arrangement

This collection is organized into a single series - Kirksville Public Schools collection, 1885-1983.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was accumulated from various sources over a span of nearly 100 years. Some items were collected by library and archives staff for the library's local history collection; others were donated by area residents. Most donors are unknown; those whose names were recorded include: E. M. Violette, George N. Hartje, P. O. Selby, Ola (Miller) Rice, Floreine Kibler and Pauline Knobbs.

Photographs of Kirksville school buildings, classes, teachers and administrators, from the late 19th to early 21st centuries, are in the photo archives in Special Collections and University Archives at Pickler Memorial Library.
