Scope and Content Note
This collection contains sales slips, paychecks, and worker time cards and other documents including some land leases from Adair County coal mines and companies including Baiotto Coal Company, Inc., Billy Creek Coal Mine, Blacksmith Coal Corporation, Corrigan Coal Company, Kansas City Midland Coal & Mining Company, Orek Coal Company, Rose Hill Coal Mine and Simler Bluff Coal Mine, as well as the Adair County Coal Operators Association.

Physical Description
These checks are very graphic with people, a local map, and coal miners at the pay office. The top has a banner that says "Adair County Mines Can Run The Year 'Round If Our Own County Will Use Adair County Coal Only." A graphic of a woman on a telephone says "Send me a ton of Adair County Coal, Please." And the miners at the pay office say "It sure does feel good to be working' all year round." Across the center of check it says "This is Adair County Coal Money." And on the bottom "Use Adair County Coal and Create Employment."
