Talks of the horrors of war [WWI]; wants cigarettes, coffee, and rum to be mailed to him; Barnum must be right; they have good times in spite of the struggles; Huns are the least of their worries because of the weather, cooties, hikes, lack of food, clothing, and sleep, rats, mice, and bugs; peace seems close at hand; wants Harriet to remind the Stevensons of him; wants Jim to join before the war ends; Germans just dropped a shell 200 meters away; sends his best to the folks back home and to Harriet in her new venture; hopes the next time that he needs first aid Michael Reese is near him.
