Historical Note

The Multicultural Affairs Center (MAC) was started in 1991 to provide support to underrepresented students and to facilitate a campus environment socially, emotionally, and academically supportive of students of all identities. MAC conducted educational programming, training, and workshops. Many of the organizations which were sponsored by the MAC are featured within this collection. Among them are Greek organizations including the Iota Xi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha (founded December 4, 1973); the Zeta Zeta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta (chartered in May 1968); the Mu Tau chapter of Phi Beta Sima, Inc. (founded March 29, 1980); Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; as well as The Upsilon Omicron chapter of Zeta Phi Beta (founded May 1, 1994).
