Biographical Note

David Owen Long (1913 August 6-2000 August 27) was born in Fremont County, Iowa, and was raised there and in Lewis County, Missouri, where the family moved when he was about age 15. He began preaching at age 21 and from then until his retirement led a varied and productive professional life as a minister, high school and college teacher and librarian and county farm agent. He began his college education at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) then transferred to Illinois College where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in 1931.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

In 1994, David Long gave his extensive library of over 6,000 books and periodicals covering a myriad of subject areas, primarily religion and philosophy, education, literature and agriculture, to Pickler Memorial Library at Truman State University. These personal items accompanied his library.
