Martha Spath, was an alumna and later assistant professor of Physical Education at Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University).

Historical Note

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, to Joseph P. Kennedy, the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, and Rose Fitzgerald. John F. Kennedy (JFK) married Jacqueline Bouvier on September 12, 1953. She is mentioned frequently throughout this collection as well as their two children, Caroline and John Jr.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Martha Spath, an alumna and later assistant professor of Physical Education at Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University), gave her collection of Kennedy memorabilia and books to the university in December of 1980.

Processing Information

Over the history of the collection, some level of processing has been undertaken. The books that were originally given by Spath began to be processed into the general collection at Pickler Memorial Library in 1981. However, it is not possible to determine whether this collection follows the original order or not. Arrangement scheme for the collection was imposed during processing in the absence of a useable original order.
