Biographical Note

Vincent Price (1911-1993), a native of St Louis, Missouri, was an actor who was best known for his starring roles in horror movies based on the works of Edgar Alan Poe and other tales of the macabre and supernatural. He was an avid art collector and founded the Vincent Price Art Museum at East Los Angeles College, the first teaching art collection housed in a community college. He was also a gourmet chef, authoring several cookbooks. Mr. Price was a favorite guest lecturer in Truman State University's Lyceum Series, visiting campus for the first time in 1961 and returning in 1972, 1977, 1980, 1981, 1984, 1985, and 1986. His son, V.B. Price, (1940-present), a long-time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a journalist, poet, author, columnist, and teacher at the University of New Mexico. From 1994 to 2009, he wrote opinion columns for the Albuquerque Tribune and the New Mexico Independent, along with lecturing at UNM and releasing literary works of both prose and poetry.
