Grassle Brothers Wagon Factory, 201-203 South Main.
Scope and Contents
An album of 35 photos of Kirksville, Missouri, buildings, businesses and people created by "Drake, Fotografer" and originally owned by Clifford Elmore Henry. Using Kirksville city directories, local histories and articles in Kirksville newspapers of the day, we have been able to determine that most of the photos in this album were taken 1893 January-April, the only period when all the pictured businesses were in operation simultaneously.

Historical Note
Brothers Albert F. and George A. Grassle, came to Kirksville from Memphis, Missouri, in 1887 and opened their wagon factory on S. Main near the Wabash Depot; their father, Frederick Grassle, joined them in the business the following Spring. Frederick is in front of the shop with his hands on his hips and his sons are probably among the other employees standing around. Unfortunately, we don't know which ones they might be.
