Towers / Gibbs Residence, 502 East Harrison.
Scope and Contents
An album of 35 photos of Kirksville, Missouri, buildings, businesses and people created by "Drake, Fotografer" and originally owned by Clifford Elmore Henry. Using Kirksville city directories, local histories and articles in Kirksville newspapers of the day, we have been able to determine that most of the photos in this album were taken 1893 January-April, the only period when all the pictured businesses were in operation simultaneously.

Historical Note
This was the home of Mrs A.F. Towers, a dressmaker, in 1892 and numerous families lived in it over the next few years. Lonnie F. Gibbs, an officer of Kirksville Trust Co., lived here from about 1915 until his suicide in March 1923. His death opened an investigation which revealed that he had embezzled thousands of dollars from the firm and eventually led to his father's imprisonment and later suicide.
