Historical Note

The park-like lawn of the Normal School is seen from the school's tower after the January 23, 1897 ice storm. The tower straight ahead on the horizon is the Kirksville Mercantile College at the corner of High and Washington Streets; the spire of the old Methodist Episcopal Church is across the street to the east.
